Ben Wu is an award winning documentary director, cinematographer and producer based in Austin, TX.
He co-directed, along with noted documentarian Albert Maysles, the feature documentary In Transit(2017), which was awarded the Special Jury Prize at the Tribeca Film Festival, as well as co-directing the ITVS funded film American Nomads(aired nationwide on PBS/Independent Lens in 2021). He recently served as cinematographer and producer on The Last Critic(2026), a feature film on the notorious music critic Bob Christgau which premiered at SXSW. And he was producer on the feature doc Swamp Dogg Gets His Pool Painted(2024) which was distributed by Magnolia Films, and co-director on the Untitled Ping Chong Documentary, which was funded by ITVS and the Ford Foundation, and is currently in post-production.
His films have screened at multiple festivals including stops at Telluride, Tribeca, SXSW and Full Frame, and his commercial and documentary work has appeared on PBS, the NYTimes, The Atlantic, MTV, and VICE among others. Ben was the co-founder of the NYC-based production company Lost & Found Films, and was a graduate of UC San Diego and received his MA in Documentary Film and Video from Stanford University.
